Primary School,
Queensland

My Year 6 student was struggling to find her own strengths and identity amongst a sea of other students. Her writing, in particular her poetry, was impressive and I encouraged her to enter poetry competitions. One day I was pleasantly surprised to find there was a parcel for me at the office. It was a published book and this young lady dedicated her poem to me.

She noted,

I will always remember how you valued every class member and helped them along their path, like you have done with me and my poetry, and I really appreciate that. You’re an amazing teacher, maybe even the best. Please enjoy this poetry book as much as I enjoyed your teaching.

I value the importance of relationships in teaching and helping each child to realise their own potential.
