Monique George

Primary School,
Australian Capital Territory

I taught a student in both years 3 and 4, and then taught her younger sister in Year 3 the following year. These sisters decorated my duty vest. The decorations include the words, ‘Police Officer George’ (a punctuation expert), ‘Esmeralda’ (a writing enthusiast), and ‘Rapper G’ (an educational song performer).

Throughout the year, I dress up as these characters. Although the children know that it is really me, they get to learn or review previously taught content or skills from ‘one of Miss George’s relatives’ who has a set outfit, voice and persona. These learning opportunities are not only humorous and educational but are remembered and treasured for years to come.
